   Nicholas Tran received the B.S. degrees in Mathematics and in    Computer Science (with high distinction) from the University of    Minnesota, Twin Cities in 1987 and the Ph.D. degree in Computer    Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1992.

   Before joining Santa Clara University in 2000, he was an Assistant    Professor in Computer Science at Wichita State University (1997-
    2000), a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of    Pennsylvania (1994-1997), and a Technical Staff Member of the    Networking Hardware Division at IBM Research Triangle Park (1993-    1994).

Professor Tran is a member of the ACM Special Interest Group on Algorithms and Computation Theory and the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science.

Hans-Peter Dommel is Assistant Professor at Santa Clara University   in California in the heart of Silicon Valley.

  He came to the United States in 1992 as a Fulbright Scholar and   received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of   California at Santa Cruz under the guidance of Prof. J.J. Garcia-Luna-
Aceves in 1999. He also holds a Master's degree in Computer Science   and Theoretical Linguistics from the Technical University of Munich. He   previously worked for IBM, Siemens and various other companies in   Munich and Stuttgart, Germany.

  His current research interests concern telecollaboration (network   support, mobility, security), multimedia transmission over networks,   group communication, web technology, and the impact of technology on   society.

  He is a member of the IEEE Computer Society, ACM, Sigma Xi, and GI   Germany.
